We are so excited that you’re joining us for the 2025 San Diego Triathlon Challenge! In addition to returning to La Jolla Cove, the event will have a renewed energy and competitive spirit. Whether you’re racing as an individual or as a relay team of 3, this year’s routes are sure to give you an unforgettable experience. The event includes a 1-mile swim, a 30-mile bike ride, and an 8-mile run. This year relays will truly be participating as a team and required to tag their teammate before the next segment can begin.
San Diego Triathlon Challenge - Swim & Bike Course
1-mile swim at the stunning La Jolla Cove. To get to the swim start, you’ll need to enter and exit the water using a set of stairs. If you need assistance navigating the stairs, reach out to [email protected], and he’ll make sure you have the support you need to safely get up and down. And if you decide to skip the swim for any reason, a swim time will not be included your overall time, so you can focus on the bike and run.
30-mile +1,856 ft elevation bike ride, will take you north, riding through gorgeous Torrey Pines and along the iconic Pacific Coast Highway through Solana Beach to Encinitas. This is an out and back ride with the turnaround at Swami’s in Encinitas. This is an open bike course and rules of the road apply.

San Diego Triathlon Challenge - Run
8-mile +364 ft elevation run will take you south through the scenic streets of La Jolla and Bird Rock, with breathtaking views of the California coastline to keep you motivated. Like the bike, this is an out and back and an open course, follow the rules of the road while enjoying every step of the way toward the finish line!
